DUBNOBASSWITHMYHEADMAN

Underworld are one of those bands that has connected me to the UK from a very early age. Thanks to my sister's impeccable teenage music taste, I was first introduced via their debut 12" Underneath the Radar - a track which predates their incarnation as the Underworld we know today, but still made a brilliant 80s dance-a-thon before I could say the word rave.

Fast forward to 2015, and the chance to see them perform dubnobasswithmyheadman live in Glasgow was impossible to resist. There's some kind of innate association between Glasgow & Underworld thanks to Trainspotting, so it felt like the right place to see the show. Rick was on the mixing desk (a lucky break as he was too ill to perform in London), Karl was his stripey self on stage with Darren P. and an incredible night was had by all.

Rez performed (with Cowgirl of course) at the end of the night.

With my new shiny set of Underworld fridge magnets, I can shout lager lager at myself every morning.

Of course any trip to Glasgow wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Old HairdressersStereo and Monorail Music, where I grabbed a copy of Lilacs & Champagne's latest Midnight Features Vol. 2 . Mono is one of the best record stores/gig venues/cafe & craft beer spaces on the planet and a tempting reason to entertain a move to Glasgow in itself. A pretty perfect adventure in sound.
